What Eduviq collects, why it needs it, who else sees it, and how to delete all of it.

What we collect, and why
| Data | What it is | Why |
|---|---|---|
| User ID | The account identifier Eduviq issues you, and the Google account ID that signs you in. | It is how your bookings, classes and messages are known to be yours. |
| Personal info | Name, email address, phone number, and — if you give them — date of birth, gender, class or year, and your address. Tutors additionally provide qualifications, a photo, identity and degree documents, and an Aadhaar number. | To create the account, to let you and your tutor recognise and reach each other, and to verify that a tutor is who they say they are. A tutor's Aadhaar number is never stored: it is converted on our server into a one-way fingerprint that cannot be reversed, and only that fingerprint is kept. |
| Location | Approximate and precise location. For a home visit, the map pin you place on your address. For a tutor, location during a home visit while the visit is running. | To find tutors near you, to send a tutor to the right door, and to show that a home visit actually took place. |
| Financial info | The amount, the currency and the payment and order identifiers our payment provider returns. | To take payment for a class and to settle refunds. Card numbers, UPI PINs and bank credentials are entered on the payment provider's screen and never reach Eduviq. |
| App activity | Bookings, sessions attended, doubts asked, courses enrolled in, reviews written, and in-app notifications. | It is the product: your schedule, your history, and what a tutor is paid for. |
| Device ID | A push notification token for the device you install the app on. | To tell you a tutor accepted your booking or a class is about to start. Notifications can be turned off, and the token is deleted with your account. |
| Photos and files | A profile photo, photos attached to a doubt, class notes, and a tutor's identity and degree documents. | To show who you are, to explain a question, and to verify a tutor. Documents are stored privately and are readable only by you and by Eduviq's reviewers. |
| Camera and microphone | Used during a live online class. Nothing is recorded and nothing is stored. | It is a video class. The audio and video pass between the two people in it in real time. |
Who we are
Eduviq is a marketplace that connects students with verified tutors for online classes, at-home tuition and coaching-centre sessions. This policy covers the Eduviq website and the Eduviq Android app.
If you have a question about anything here, write to support@eduviq.com.
How your data is protected
All data is encrypted in transit. Every connection between the app or the website and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS; the app is built to refuse plain, unencrypted connections entirely.
Data is stored on managed infrastructure with encryption at rest. Access to your rows is enforced in the database itself, so one account cannot read another's bookings, notes or documents — that rule is applied by the database on every single query, not by the app asking nicely.
Payments are handled by our payment provider. Card numbers, UPI PINs, bank passwords and one-time passwords are entered on their screen and are never seen by, sent to, or stored by Eduviq.
Who your data is shared with
With the other person in your class. A tutor sees the name, and the contact and address details needed to teach the class you booked; you see the tutor's profile. Nothing more is shared than the booking requires.
With service providers that run parts of the product: our hosting and database provider, our payment provider, our video-class provider, the push-notification services operated by Google and by browsers, and Google Maps for address and map features. They process data on our instructions, for these purposes only.
Where the law requires it. Eduviq does not sell your data, and does not share it with data brokers or advertisers.
How long it is kept
For as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your personal data and your in-app data are deleted with it — see below.
Deleting your account and your data
You can delete your account yourself, from the app or from the website, at any time. It is permanent and immediate: your profile, phone number and address, your reviews, notifications, saved availability or study record, any class still to come, and every file you uploaded — profile photo, doubt photos, identity and degree documents — are erased, along with the sign-in itself.
Classes that already happened are not erased, because they are equally the other person's record of a lesson they attended and paid for. Those rows stay, with your name replaced by “Deleted Tutor” or “Deleted Student” and nothing left on them that identifies you. Payment and payout records stay for the same reason a business keeps its books.
One thing outlives a tutor's account: the one-way fingerprint of their Aadhaar number described above. It is kept unattached to any profile, and only so that a new account cannot claim a second referral bonus for the same person. It is not the number, and it cannot be turned back into one.
It cannot be undone. Signing in again with the same Google account creates a brand-new, empty account rather than restoring the old one.
In the app: Profile → Delete account. On the website: the Delete account page linked below, or the link at the bottom of your profile page.
Cookies
Eduviq sets three kinds of cookie, and all of them are strictly necessary — there is nothing here for advertising, nothing that follows you to another site, and nothing sold to anyone.
The first is your sign-in. When you sign in with Google we store a session cookie so that the next page you open knows it is you; sign out, or delete your account, and it goes. Without it you would have to sign in on every click.
The second is a short-lived cookie set while you are signing in, which remembers whether you started as a student or a tutor so we can send you to the right place when Google sends you back. It lasts five minutes.
The third is set by Cloudflare, which serves this site and protects it from attack. It tells their network that your browser is a real browser. We do not read it.
Because all three are needed for the site to work at all, there is no cookie banner to accept or refuse — a consent box that only ever has one answer is theatre, not a choice. If you block cookies in your browser you can still read the public pages; you will not be able to sign in.
The website also uses your browser's local storage for small conveniences, such as remembering which tab you had open. That never leaves your device.
Children
Eduviq is used for school tutoring, so some students are minors. An account for a student under 18 should be created and managed by a parent or guardian, who is responsible for the information provided and can delete it at any time by the route above.
Your rights
You can see and correct your details at any time from your profile, and delete everything as described above. For anything else — a copy of your data, or a question about how it is used — write to support@eduviq.com.
